CALL FOR PAPERS/PARTICIPATION

“Theories and Practices of Interfaith Dialogue in the Philippines ”

April 24-26, 2008 

The Goals of this Conference:

 

1. to bring together local/national practitioners and theoreticians dealing with Interfaith Dialogue;

2. to identify, analyze, and indicate possible links/convergences of emerging field practices of and theoretical/academic approaches to Interfaith/Religious Dialogue;

3. to encourage conversational exchanges among practitioners in order to document the diversity of practices both in the field and academic settings;

4. to fortify relations among practitioners across regional, linguistic and religious boundaries.

 

2008 Conference Theme :

 

The general theme for the conference will be “Theories and Practices of Interfaith Dialogue in the Philippines .” The papers may address any of the following general topics:

 

1. Dialogue: Its Ends and Means

2. World and Local Traditions: Possibilities for Mutual-Enrichment;

3. Authority: Dealing with Continuity and Change;

4. Theory and Practice of Dialogue: Their Ideal Relationships;

5. Text and Context: Harmony and/or Dialectics;

6. The Power/Systems Context: Possibility of Dialogue/Praxis in Strategized/Globalized Worlds;

7. The Utopic Imagination: Providing Hopes for Future Conversations;

8. Diversity, Harmony, and Solidarity; and

9. The Human Person: Sine qua non of Dialogue.

Nobel Laureates to Visit DLSU-Manila

De La Salle University-Manila will serve as host to three Nobel Laureates and a former president of the World Bank who will visit the Philippines from November 2007 to April 2008 under the program Bridges: Dialogues towards a Culture of Peace hosted through The International Peace Foundation.
